ABOUT

Kayaking in front of an active glacier is a truly breathtaking and unforgettable experience. The serene nature of kayaking provides a unique opportunity

to observe this diverse ecosystem from a completely different perspective. Paddling through the water, with icebergs surrounding us, the majestic Sveabreen towers above, creating a picturesque and awe-inspiring scene.Guided

by our experienced instructors, you’ll venture into one of Svalbard’s most stunning natural areas aboard sturdy double kayaks. No prior kayaking experience

is necessary for this trip. Our day begins with a hotel pickup, followed by a journey to our headquarters where you’ll be equipped for the adventure. We provide

all necessary gear, including a dry suit that allows you to wear your own clothes underneath.

Further details about the provided equipment can be found on our  practical info  page. Once fully prepared, we’ll board one of our comfortable, closed RIB boats, setting course for the North side of the Isfjord where the kayaks await on the beach. During the journey, our guide will provide essential safety briefings on using the gear and kayaks. After a one-hour crossing, we’ll reach the beach, ready to embark on our kayaking exploration. Embark on an exploration of the bay in front of Svea glacier, paddling amidst icebergs with the guidance of our experienced leader. Take a moment to unwind and soak in the close-up views of the glacier front and the stunning natural surroundings. No other activity provides such proximity to this majestic natural spectacle. The environment around Svea glacier is both diverse and beautiful. Fragile flora resiliently battles the wind on the peninsula adjacent to the glacier, while birds chirp and feed in abundance. With a stroke of luck, we might even spot mammals resting on the ice sheets. If fortune favors us, we may witness the awe-inspiring sight of the glacier calving, forming new icebergs for us to explore. After a few hours of paddling through the bay, we return to our boat. Our captain has prepared a hearty, warm lunch for us to enjoy on the way back to Longyearbyen.
