SPITSBERGEN IN A NUTSHELL
SPITSBERGEN IN A NUTSHELL – FOCUS ON SETTLEMENTS
We invite you to an extraordinary adventure on Spitsbergen! During this six-day expedition, we will venture into the heart of the summer Arctic, where we will encounter reindeer, Arctic foxes, countless birds, and with a bit of luck, seals, walruses, and even a polar bear. This territory is full of exciting experiences, and we will follow in the footsteps of the first Arctic explorers as we traverse these rugged lands.
We will experience the Midnight Sun, when the sun shines brightly even at night, and feast our eyes on the views of Arctic fjords, abandoned whaling and mining settlements. We will explore Longyearbyen – the cradle of civilization in the Arctic, embark on a trek around the area, and visit the mining town of Barentsburg and the abandoned "ghost town" of Pyramiden.

The days will be long and intense, and our program includes all the best that Spitsbergen has to offer. This is a unique opportunity to feel the spirit of the Arctic and immerse yourself in its beauty and harshness.
ARRIVAL IN LONGYEARBYEN
Arrival in Longyearbyen, transfer, and accommodation in a hotel. Meeting with an Arctic guide who will conduct a safety briefing. We will learn how to navigate difficult conditions, avoid dangers, and cooperate with the guide. Valuable information includes rules of conduct when encountering a polar bear and why the guide always carries a weapon outside the city.
SHIP TO PYRAMIDEN
In the morning, we will board a ship to Pyramiden and set off on a picturesque route towards this abandoned town. We will be on the lookout for whales and puffins. We will sail close to the beautiful Skansbukta and arrive in Pyramiden around noon. After checking into a hotel with en-suite bathrooms, we will tour the town. In Pyramiden, movement is only allowed with a guide carrying a weapon.
NORDENSKIÖLDBREEN
Before departure, we will have time to visit the abandoned buildings in Pyramiden, such as the school, sports center, and administrative building. On the ship, we will enjoy a delicious lunch and sail close to Spitsbergen's largest glacier – Nordenskiöldbreen. In front of its majestic face, we have the best chance of spotting a polar bear.
